Cultural Competency: American Indian History

Due to a recent change in PELSB relicensure requirements, any teacher renewing their license in 2024 or 2025 is now required to complete a one hour training in Cultural Competency that is focused on American Indian History.

There is a one hour free course that meets this requirement. If you choose to attend the session, you will be working independently at your own pace and will need to bring your own device. Headphones will be needed.


If you are currently employed by the district, make sure to upload a certificate of completion provided into Keep Certified. You will receive one clock hour toward the Cultural Competency requirement once this certificate is uploaded into Keep Certified.

Frequent OTRs boost learning and also minimize behavior disruptions. We'll explore a variety of OTR techniques to help get the whole class participating — "Learning is not a spectator sport!" You'll have time to talk about the pros and cons of different techniques with your peers and share tips for implementing techniques into lessons.
